Visitor Policy

Interview with Karen

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Karen: Once a week.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Karen: Yes they would have to be signed up an hour prior to the visit, and sometimes the line was really long and the deputy would just cut the line off at that time as she signed people up for visitation so there could have been someone in line waiting for the full hour but didn't get to visit if not in front of the deputy an hour prior to visitation.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Karen: The visiting environment was noisy through a glass window with phones to speak to the visiting party. Other inmates and visitors were very loud and very close.

My son, Brent Burrows, has not recieved his the medications which were prescribed by his M.D, Dr. Nicole Thurston. Is it standard policy to discontinue prescribed medications without a doctors order or was Dr. Thurston called for a order to discontinue. Ceasing to take one of his medications abruptly is counter indicated. What can I do? How can I file a complaint? Is NNCHC ok with this type of policy? What if it was insulin? I am a retired R.N. I always needed a order from the patients M.D. in order to discontinue a medication.

Inmates can request to be seen by a member of our medical staff by submitting a Medical Request Form. Forms are available in all housing areas. They are picked up and delivered to medical staff daily. Personal medications will be replaced with medications from the contract pharmacy.
